Breast augmentation enlarges a woman’s breasts through the placement of breast implants. The procedure restores breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss, and can also be used for reconstructive purposes or to restore a breast that is lost (due to mastectomy). Breast augmentation can reshape, increase the size, or change the texture of the breasts, resulting in a fuller, balanced figure.
In order to ensure the breast augmentation is aligned with the patient’s desires, appropriate implants must be chosen. With several hundred implant styles and shapes to choose from, patients will work with Dr. Harris to receive guidance and expertise to help select the best implants.
A cohesive gel silicone breast is the superior choice for most breast augmentation surgery, as it offers a more natural looking implant. Compared to saline implants, cohesive gel implants offer many different sizes and projections and are less rippling.
Performed in our fully accredited plastic surgery clinic, the day surgery is performed under a general anesthetic. Dr. Harris also uses a sutureless closure to ensure a less noticeable scar and offers his patients a microbial barrier that allows them to shower immediately following the surgical procedure.
Breast implants are often performed alongside a breast lift (mastopexy) or areola reduction.
