Otoplasty, also known as ear pinning, is a surgery that brings the ears closer to the head, which reduces protruding ears. Many ears have an unfolded or cupped shape that may appear large in proportion to the head. Ear pinning helps reduce protruding ears, restoring confidence in appearance.
An otoplasty may involve the reshaping, molding or removing cartilage from the ear. It is completed as a day surgery in Dr Harris’ fully accredited facility under a general anesthetic.
In addition, a sutureless closer method is used to ensure a less noticeable scar, and also provides a microbial barrier that allows patients to shower immediately following the procedure.
