Scar Revision Surgery
Scars are visible marks that appear on the skin where a wound has healed. As an unavoidable byproduct of an injury or surgery, a scar may develop that is unattractive. Scars may be raised or recessed, and can also appear to be different in colour or texture than surrounding skin. This may cause the scar to be particularly noticeable due to its size, shape or location.
Scar revision can help to reduce or improve the appearance of the scar, helping to restore the skin to its natural state.
The Approach
Although a scar cannot be completely erased, revision surgery can be performed to help reduce its size and shape. The surgery minimizes the scar so that it is more consistent with surrounding skin tone and texture.
